Being
an independent artist for most of my life has been a real trip, and
I do like to travel! I left college after two years and thumbed to
western Canada via Boston, and Houston. The month long Museum tour
brought me up to speed from what I slept through in the art history
lectures, and the road gave me a thirst for more. It takes time to
develop as an artist and the same as a person. 15 years, a dozen jobs
and as many towns I found myself settled on Pender Island making independent
animation and landscaping to feed the habit and pay the bills. Many
trips to places other than my studio have always inspired my paintings
and film work. Whirly-gig, an animation in progress is a good
example of that. Also of late I have been involved with live performance
of various theatrical approach that incorporate projection. My personal
work is about showing the beauty I see and feel from the natural and
man made world around us and to lend people to another way of seeing.
Perseverance has a way of bringing things together. I am off on new
adventures, geographically and artistically, continuing my personal
development, taking everything Ive learned, moving forward mindfully
and open.
