Tulifanya
Gallery opened and operated for one year in Kampala, Uganda until
we left Uganda. My partner owned the framing portion of
the business and worked very hard to provide quality frames from
local materials. The Gallery was to showcase Ugandan artists as
well as my own work, provide studio space to artists who did not
have access to private studio space of their own, and to provide
a local outlet for the National Association of Women's Organizations
in Uganda (NAWOU). NAWOU was engaged in helping women's groups
with income generating projects, crafts and training. Tulifanya
provided a local market for their baskets and other crafts.
The Gallery
was sold when we left Uganda, and the gallery has grown under
the new management into a well established, prominent gallery,
cafe and framing center.
