Celeste
Varley has always been a practising artist at heart, seeking the
essence, meaning, and connectedness of everything in the World.
Growing up the youngest of three children, in a skilled, artistic,
working class family, in North York, Ontario, during WWII, she inherited
a strong work ethic, a lively curiosity, and an intuitive spiritual
connection to Nature.
After
13 years teaching in Toronto, and the Munich International School,
and working as graphic illustrator in Karlsruhe, she came with her
husband to live on Pender Island, BC in 1980. She combines her skill
in art with the movement of energy (Aikido & Reiki) to lead
workshops in finding one's unique creativity in any field of work
or life. Blending body, mind, and spirit, to venture beyond mere
self-expression, is her way of opening to connectedness and fulfilling
the heart's destiny.
Adventures:
In her 20s' she took part in canoe trip camping in Northern Ontario.
At 30, she overcame her fear of the water by learning scuba diving
in the Mediterranean and Red Seas and the Indian Ocean. In her 40s'
she learned to sail in the English Channel and to ski in the Alps,
and worked as ambulance driver. In her 50s' she took up competitive
cycling, and was 1997 BC Senior Champion road racer. Now in her
60s' when she is not painting, teaching, or involved in Reiki activities,
she is content to care for her aging husband, dogs, and garden.
But the door is not closed on other adventures that may come calling.
Could learning to fly be next?
