Shibori Dreams These pieces incorporate ancient Japanese techniques of tie dying on silk to create texture and depth. The many layers are left free to float in any breeze that comes along. This movement echoes the patterning on the fabric. Each piece explores the different properties of various kinds of silk; how they take the dyes, how they drape and layer.

The long and rich history of silk is referenced in these works. The political intrigues, economic benefits, religious associations and artistic practices which entwined the production and trade of silk all make cameo appearances in this collection. A series of new pieces are in production. They will be collectively called “The Dance of the Seven Veils” and will embody human virtues.
