Since 1984, Wendy Munroe has lived on South Pender
Island in the Canadian Gulf Islands, where the beauty of the natural
world provides never ending subject matter for her paintings. Most
of the images are familiar - sea, garden and landscapes. Frequent
travels also inspire and produce images from distant lands. A strong
sense of design and love of colour is apparent in each of Wendys
pieces - joyful pictures evidencing a joyous life.
Wendy Munroe was born in New Westminster, B.C. She was educated
at the University of British Columbia, Douglas College (Visual Arts)
and University of Victoria (History in Art). She has also participated
in many painting, drawing, photography and sculpture workshops.
At Douglas College she received a good grounding in the study and
practice of the visual arts but her painting technique is mainly
self-taught. She finds acrylic paint the best medium for her intuitive
and energetic approach. |
